Hey friends! So there are SO MUCH MANY things going on in my writer life these days that to be honest, I’m getting a bit dizzy keeping up with myself. But in all the craziness, a year has somehow come and gone and it is once again National Poetry Month!
Last year’s was pretty eventful for me, as that was when the campaign for Unraveling Light launched and succeeded in reaching it’s goals, which led to me hosting my very first poetry event, and my very first book baby going out into the world. Certainly nothing to sneeze at. And while I don’t have plans to launch new campaigns or put any new books out just yet, I have still been #busy.
I decided that I wanted to celebrate both Poetry Month and a month which holds many anniversaries for me by sharing some new pieces I’ve been working on. Over the course of this month, I have five new, never before released poems I’ll be sharing, as well as a few haiku poems for National Haiku Day. (Well, if you’re a Patreon subscriber, you’ve read one of them!) They range in topic and don’t necessary have a through line or theme, but they do form a kind of complete thought when read all together in order. I’ll update this post with links as they are posted, but these are the names of the five pieces I’ll be sharing…
• Inner Child •
• Shelf Life •
• When I Fail… •
• (Ten)ses •
• Meet Me, Inside •
In addition to these poems, I also have some really exciting news regarding Unraveling Light, and that is that I am hosting my first reading of it since the book’s release! The event is going to be a poetry reading at an incredible local bookstore called A Novel Idea. Not only will I be reading from Unraveling Light, but fellow Philly poets Jay Atlas and Connor Peterson will also be sharing some of their work as well. There will be snacks and emotions and the smell of books and honestly I could not be more excited.
That being said, I decided that the time has finally come for me to create an EVENTS page here on this site, and so BEHOLD! Click here to be whisked away to a page where you can learn all about attending our event on the 20th. Looking forward to perhaps seeing some of you there IRL!
And that about wraps things up for now. This really is going to be an incredibly exciting month, thanks to the poetry and other things going on too that I can’t fully talk about just yet. I have a side project I am trying to begin for Camp NaNoWriMo, while also hacking away at the current draft of the first Alteria book. In short, spring is here and the creative goodness is BLOOMING for me. I hope it is for you too.
