Poetic Justice Guest Blog

Today, I’m excited to share an awesome first for me since starting this blog, which is that I’ve written a guest blog post! The blog is called YA Indulgences run by the awesome Amber. She is currently running an entire month long series highlighting pieces by indie poets and interviews with them about their work in honor of National Poetry Month. You can learn more about it here!

My guest post, which was released earlier today, includes a poem from Unraveling Light called Becoming, which happens to be one of my personal favorites from the collection. Along with it is an exclusive, never before released blurb on when and why I wrote it. Here’s an excerpt from it

I wrote it as fall was letting out its dying breath back in December of 2017. I was on a trip to Seattle, my first time visiting the Pacific Northwest, and I remember writing it as I was sitting in this little rooftop garden that overlooked the bay and the Olympic mountains. I wrote so many new poems that week, and it was during that trip that I made the firm decision to put Becoming, and others, together into a collection.
