An Author’s Last Words

The time draws near
where you won’t belong
to me anymore,
because you will belong
to the world.

While part of my
heart aches knowing
you will go on to
live beyond me,
I try to remember
that this isn’t a letting go—
it is a loving surrender.

This was just a short poetry piece I wrote tonight, as I wound down from my day and spent time reflecting on some very exciting news that I’ll have coming your way in the next week.
