when our reality
feels too big & too beautiful
to have happened to us,
we say it was “written in the stars”
but i have to wonder
who was the first of us
to look up and see
shapes of stories
in the void
between the lights?
who was the first legend
to be immortalized
in the endlessness of the sky?
isn’t it transcendental
that for the things
we can’t explain,
we look to the heavens
and ask the stars,
why?
