The Pen

• I •

Take care how
you let me
bleed.
You
never know
which drop of me
will change
the world.

• II •

when I am
in your hand,
know you are safe.
allow my ink
to become anchor,
holding you still
to the page,
to the world,
so that even
as your mind
sonders out about
the starry evers,
you, your body,
remain tethered
to this obscenely
human thing we
call a story.
